Post 3: Sociology as a combat sport

I remember when I was in my first year of sociology, in 2018, and the career showed us some welcome activities. We had forums, interactive activities and also we watched a documentary called "Sociology is a combat sport". In the documentary, the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu shares his point of view about the discipline and the researches that he made. Now, in 2021, I'm very excited about studying sociology, it's a little difficult for me but passing the years I've become a greater student than in my first year haha. All the knowledge that teachers gave us, their experience on research or their tricks to be a good researcher, that things make me feel great about studying sociology. I want to believe that studying sociology will give me the tools to make changes in society, I think that's the reason why I'm studying sociology. By the way, I'm not sure if the career will make me a change agent, after being almost 4 years here. Maybe the real changes will be done in the classroom, being a teacher... it's complicated. A positive aspect is that you can discuss history, politics, economics, and even social relationships, with empirical data and social science. But all we know that science is not everything, right?.
